Urinary Incontinence Treatment

What is TVT and TOT Surgery?

Two of the surgical treatment methods for urinary incontinence are TVT (transvaginal tape application) and TOT (transobturator tape application) surgeries. These operations usually do not require hospitalization. In TVT and TOT surgeries, the patient under anesthesia is intervened vaginally, the bladder neck is lifted and it is hung on the bone in the genital area or fixed inside the vagina.

What is the Difference Between TVT and TOT?

The main difference between TVT and TOT is the way the surgeon reaches the urethra to suspend the special synthetic material to be used as a tape. Additionally, there may be slight differences in the material of the tape used depending on the procedure to be applied.

The patient does not have the decision-making information between TVT and TOT surgeries. This is an issue that the surgeon will determine after the examination. Both operations take a similar time and their success rates are close.
